Capturing Your Wedding Activities

August 11, 2018

Once the “I-do’s” are said and the rings are on, it is time to capture the rest of the wedding activities! As you have planned your perfect day, we know you have taken the time to decide on a day-of timeline, activities to entertain your guests, and a lovely reception. At Avery Wong Photography, we want to collect all the memories throughout your reception and the evening of your wedding for you. Let us focus on setting up the shots and you just enjoy your big day! We want to showcase some of our favorite wedding activity shots here:

Let Them Eat Cake

The age-old tradition of cake cutting is one of the most highly-anticipated moments of a wedding! Everyone loves dessert and cakes are designed and decorated now to be picture-perfect. The cake cutting will be a great photo opportunity to capture the wedding activities! This is a great shot of the bride and groom, as well as a forever memoir of the delicious cake.

Garter Toss

Another treasured tradition is the garter toss and bouquet toss! With the right timing and our photographer’s keen eye, we can capture the perfect timing on the toss, dance, or the laughter that comes with these honored wedding activities. Boogie on with the love of your life and we will handle the rest!

Grand Exit

One of our favorite wedding activities to take photos of is the grand exit and the end of the night. While we are sad the party is over, we do love to see the happy couple all smiles as they leave the venue and head into the next chapter of their life. Whether your grand exit is by car, motorcycle or back on the party bus with your squad, we are always happy to snap some final photos as you depart a married couple.

Why to Consider Video For Your Wedding

August 8, 2018

On the wedding checklist, right next to wedding photographer and day of coordinator, most wedding sites and planning tools will say you should consider whether you want to add a videographer to the mix. At Avery Wong Photography, we make that step of consideration so easy for you, since we have videographers on staff and include them in some of our package options to get you the best deal on both photos and videos! Why consider video though? Well, we hope these examples below showcase the best reasons to consider wedding video for your day:

Why Limit to Just One?

You never need to limit yourself when it comes to your big-day options! If you want to have video AND photography services at your wedding, we say the more the merrier! The video above highlights how Avery Wong Photography can edit your highlight reel to include the best of both the photos and video shots of your day. With fun overview shots to show your great venue and ceremony, you can really re-live your special day with your partner and remember all the little details.

An Engagement Video

Not sure a video is in the cards for the day of? What about taking a page out of Sean’s book and creating an engagement video? Remember that moment of nerves and excitement forever, when we capture and coordinate the big moment of the actual proposal with you! The video will capture your partner’s absolute surprise and shock and serve as a reminder always of how very much in love you are. Avery will work with you to coordinate timing, discuss what is needed for this to be executed properly, and make sure we capture everything!

A Photo Collage Video

As part of a standard package with Avery Wong Photography, we deliver your shots in a photo slideshow collage! We can work with you to choose the song and the style to make your slideshow video perfect for you and super shareable with your guests and family. If video is not in your budget or in your vision, we can still work with you to make this video the perfect one for you and your partner.

No First Look? No Problem!

July 29, 2018

Right now the big trend in weddings is the first look; when the groom and bride see each other for the first time on their wedding day, usually in an isolated setting before ceremony. You can capture stunning and emotional photos during this time, which anyone who looks up the trend can see on Pinterest and The Knot. However, for couples that would prefer their first seeing of each other be at the actual ceremony, we often hear “How can we still capture pre-ceremony shots that are emotional and moving?”. Here are some of our favorite pre-ceremony photos that any couple can request:

The Bride and Her Squad

After hair and makeup are done, there are so many heart-felt shots that Avery Wong Photography can get of the bride and her entourage. Whether it is the bride showing her squad her full look for the first time or the bride’s family giving some tearful advice to the bride, emotions are high pre-ceremony! There are many moments where the bride and her squad are getting prepared that make for excellent photography. This is a very intimate time for the bride and we can capture these amazing photos and moments while still being subtle and not interrupting the big day.

A Pre-Ceremony Note

Many couples don’t see each other the day of the wedding, but wish they could hear from their partners. Whether this is through a groomsmen or bridesmaid messenger or through a heartfelt written note, this can be an extremely emotional moment. The bride or groom reading a custom note for their eyes only can be a very intimate way to capture a romantic occasion. Being able to look back many years later and remember that pure feeling you felt reading that note or hearing that message; that’s why we take these pre-ceremony photos!

Capturing The Groom

The groom standing at the altar or preparing pre-ceremony is a great way to capture the jitters and nerves he is feeling! Everyone is so excited to see the bride and start the procession, but this instance can be important to capture. The groom’s nerves and excitement are something he can remember for years to come with a photo like this! We can also make sure we capture a similar shot of the bride (away from everyone else of course)!

Dancing The Night Away

July 22, 2018

When the toasts have been said, the champagne bottle popped, and the cake served, it is finally time to get down to the dancing! While some photographers struggle to capture the dance floor photography of the guests and couple, it’s one of our favorite times at Avery Wong Photography! This is the time to really capture that FUN element of the wedding and we come prepared to deal with the dimmed lighting and unique setups of the dance floors. Here are some of our favorite tips and moments from boogie wonderland:

Get Down On It

Planning on the Lighting Ahead of Time

One of the reasons that Avery Wong Photography is so hands on and values our consultations and meetings is to help capture the best moments of your wedding! Through these consultations and phone calls, we cover what lighting your venue will have on the dance floor and then Avery comes prepared to handle the difference in lighting. Too much exposure could lead your guests looking like ghosts and too little will lead to you missing out on some great dance moves. Don’t miss out on your best man busting out some choreography or any of your guest’s dance floor photography!

Capture The Romance of the First Dance

You Are The Dancing Queen

One of the most intimate moments of the wedding is the first dance as a newly married couple. Between spinning and trying not to trip in front of your entire wedding, you have worked so hard on making this moment great. Why not expect the same out of your photographer? During this beautiful moment, we would rather capture the love between bride and groom and make sure your big twirl is caught perfectly. You focus on the dancing and leave the photos to us for this romantic moment!

Cue the Confetti

From Dancing to the Grand Exit

At Avery Wong Photography, we know a grand exit can be crucial to couples. Like in the image above, we want to capture that moment in the most magical way possible! Whether it’s confetti, a sparkler send-off, or a getaway car fit for royalty, the photos will transition to grand exit seamlessly. Our team can switch from the Get Down to the Getaway easily and make sure we grab your magical send off!
